AWOL soldier accused of stealing Humvee

A U.S Army soldier was arrested Monday in Volusia County. Deputies say he stole a military Humvee and took off.
Deputies say Private Sean Johnson drove the Humvee from his army base at Fort Stewart in Georgia all the way into Volusia when he ran out of gas.

A Volusia County deputy saw the vehicle stranded on Interstate 95 near the Port Orange exit and stopped to check it out.
He got suspicious when Johnson didn’t have any military paperwork to prove he was on a military mission.

The deputy called the Army. Army police say Johnson was AWOL and had stolen the Humvee earlier in the week.
Johnson is in the Volusia County jail facing grand theft charges.

Latest tea party target: Its own convention

By Bob L.   This my opinion on how I see it!

Teabaggers stand up for your rights to be independent of this Teabag  Convention and don’t get involved in it, it looks and stinks like a Government set up to show people that is  just what they said it was, and if any politician go s there and collect any money for it then it is more then what they say it is, the people who really want to stand up for their rights, this convention will mean nothing to your cause, and will be brought up every time you protest against the Government.

( Politico )[The convention is being held at a fancy resort, features $550 ticket prices, a steak and lobster dinner and a guest speaker with a $100,000 speaking fee. It’s sponsored by a for-profit company with a mysterious wealthy benefactor, and its organizers, who have been accused of secrecy and corruption, have threatened lawsuits against dissenters and clamped down on news coverage.] Does this sound like people getting together to stand up for their rights under the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION, to me it looks like a Government, see I told you so, you are only looking to profit.

Presidential politics is about storytelling. Presented with a vivid storyline, voters naturally tend to fit every new event or piece of information into a picture that is already neatly framed in their minds.

No one understands this better than Barack Obama and his team, who won the 2008 election in part because they were better storytellers than the opposition. The pro-Obama narrative featured an almost mystically talented young idealist who stood for change in a disciplined and thoughtful way. This easily out powered the anti-Obama narrative, featuring an opportunistic Chicago pol with dubious relationships who was more liberal than he was letting on. Read the rest of this entry »

When I was a kid (mid- to late-’60s), nightly TV news shows were everyone’s source of information. Alongside from the flickering bland-and-white coverage of the Vietnam war and protesting hippies, I distinctly remember stories that would be foreign to us in 2009: food prices.

Yes, food prices. Right there in the segment where today you’d expect to see updates on gasoline prices, you’d have David Brinkley or Walter Cronkite or Howard K. Smith used to report on the prices of beef, chicken, bread, milk or eggs. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s morning on November 4, and if conservatives learn the lessons yesterday’s elections taught, it can be morning in America again soon.

Yesterday, two ideological conservative candidates won big victories. And today is the day we shall exile to political Siberia all those Republican “moderates” and high-priced consultants who say principled, focused conservatives can’t win. Read the rest of this entry »
